We are seeking a Material Flow Engineer to lead end‑to‑end packaging development for automotive products. In this role, you will design, test, and optimize packaging solutions that meet Ford standards while solving material, process, and design challenges. You will collaborate with global suppliers and cross‑functional teams to improve efficiency, reduce costs, support manufacturability, and enhance in‑plant logistics. Join us to drive smarter, safer, and more innovative packaging across our supply chain.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Lead the full packaging development process in alignment with Ford standards, including design creation, prototype builds, performance testing, documentation, and system updates.
2. Identify and resolve packaging issues related to design, materials, or processes. Provide practical and cost‑effective solutions, and manage supplier claims when packaging defects occur.
3. Review engineering drawings and product specifications to determine material needs, handling requirements, and safety or environmental considerations for packaging.
4. Collaborate closely with global suppliers and internal teams such as engineering, product management, operations, and sourcing to ensure packaging meets technical and operational needs.
5. Support cost‑reduction initiatives by improving packaging materials, labor efficiency, logistics flow, transportation usage, and storage effectiveness.
6. Work with manufacturing teams to ensure packaging is suitable for production processes and supports stable and efficient operations.
7. Develop production racks and in‑plant logistics solutions that improve handling, movement, and storage within the facility.
8. Continuously improve packaging and work processes by identifying opportunities for efficiency, simplification, and better operational performance.
