Job Title: Research Assistant – Administrative & Project Support
Location: Taipei Medical University, Taiwan
Position Type: Full-time

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive Research Assistant to provide administrative and project support for research activities at the AIBioMed Research Group at Taipei Medical University.
The role is primarily focused on managing project documentation, assisting with grant applications, coordinating purchases, handling financial reports, liaising with university offices, and supporting overall lab operations. As the Principal Investigator (PI) is a foreign researcher, the selected candidate will also assist in navigating local academic, funding, and administrative systems in Taiwan.
While knowledge of AI, bioinformatics, and scientific research is a plus, it is not a core requirement. The ideal candidate should be efficient in handling paperwork, organizing research activities, and ensuring smooth project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Administrative & Project Management Support:
• Manage administrative tasks related to research projects, ensuring compliance with university and government regulations.
• Assist in grant applications, including form submission, budget preparation, and reporting.
• Handle purchasing requests, coordinate with suppliers, and process procurement-related documents.
• Track budget usage and financial records for funded projects.
• Coordinate with university offices (e.g., administration, finance, HR, procurement) to facilitate smooth operations.
• Prepare, review, and submit official documents, ensuring they meet institutional requirements.
• Manage travel arrangements, reimbursements, and logistics for research activities.
• Maintain project records, grant timelines, and documentation databases.
Communication & Coordination:
• Act as the primary contact between the PI and university offices, ensuring efficient communication.
• Support document translation (Mandarin-English) or clarification when needed.
• Ensure deadlines for administrative and funding reports are met.
• Assist in scheduling and calendar management for research-related activities.
Optional (Bonus) – Research Support:
(Not required but a plus if the candidate has these skills)
• Assist in literature reviews and basic research documentation.
• Support in data management, organization, and basic analysis.
• Help with research-related presentations, reports, or minor coding tasks (if applicable).
Qualifications & Requirements:
Essential:
• Bachelor‘s or Master‘s degree in Administration, Public Affairs, Business, Biological Sciences, or a related field.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills to manage administrative responsibilities.
• Experience with Taiwanese university and research administration systems (or willingness to learn).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in Mandarin and English.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced research environment.
Preferred (but not required):
• Prior experience in university research administration, grants, or financial reporting.
• Familiarity with Taiwanese research funding agencies (MOST, MOE, NHRI, etc.).
• Knowledge of purchasing and procurement processes in academic institutions.
• Background in science, AI, or bioinformatics (not required, but a plus).
• Basic familiarity with research publications, manuscripts, and conference organization.
