Responsibilities Include:
1. Lead safety initiatives in support of Company’s EHS strategies including development of leading indicators, Industrial Hygiene quantitative risk assessments, improved risk awareness, and development of associates to achieve an independent safety culture.
2. Lead risk assessment activities and drive resolution to potential employee exposures related to chemical, noise, and ergonomics.
3. Drive ergonomic team activities and support ergonomic improvements across the facility.
4. Serve as company resource in performing incident investigations using root cause analysis and investigation tools/methods to identify causes and to determine how such accidents might be prevented in the future.
5. Implement and maintain EHS policies and procedures as defined by corporate management system. Confirm each department understands and follows applicable standards.
6. Lead small projects and supporting large projects for EHS as they develop or during planning of management of change.
7. Prepare annual budget to support industrial hygiene activities.
8. Inspect or evaluate workplace environments, equipment, or practices to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations.
9. Investigate the adequacy of ventilation, exhaust equipment, lighting, or other conditions that could affect employee health, comfort, or performance.
10. Recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.
11. Conduct safety training or education programs and demonstrate the use of safety equipment.
12. Develop or maintain hygiene programs, such as noise surveys, ventilation surveys management plans.
13. Investigate health-related complaints and inspect facilities to ensure that they comply with public health legislation and regulations.
14. Collaborate with engineers or physicians to institute control or remedial measures for hazardous or potentially hazardous conditions or equipment.
15. Order suspension of activities that pose threats to workers‘ health or safety i.e., “stop work”.
16. Prepare EHS test samples for transportation.
17. Perform laboratory analyses or physical inspections of samples.
18. Perform other duties as assigned.
The following are required for the role
1. Strong knowledge of and experience working with OSHA regulations and industry standards such as ACGIH, NIOSH, NFPA, ANSI.
2. Problem solving and analytical skills.
3. Expertise in analyzing and evaluating technical data, test results, and reports.
