Job Overview:
This position is responsible for managing and improving material and component quality throughout both pre-mass production and mass productions stages. The engineer will work closely with suppliers to ensure manufacturing process readiness, part maturity, and quality compliance. This includes handling supplier-related issues, conducting quality audits, and driving continuous improvement to meet company and customer standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supplier Process Readiness & Part Maturity (Pre-Mass Production):
• Participate in pre-mass production planning, ensuring that suppliers‘ manufacturing processes are robust and ready for mass production.
• Evaluate part and process maturity through quality checkpoints, pilot runs, and early-stage sampling (e.g., PPAP, Run@Rate, FA/I).
• Collaborate with engineering and purchasing teams to verify supplier capability and capacity before ramp-up.
2. Handling and Improvement of Material and Component Anomalies (Mass Production):
• Monitor and resolve incoming quality issues from suppliers, including plastics, metals, electronics, optics, and mechanical parts.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions to eliminate recurrence.
• Track and analyze supplier defect trends to identify systemic issues.
3. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
• Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to address production related problems caused by material or part defects.
• Support production line recovery with effective and timely problem resolution.
4. Supplier Quality Management and Continuous Improvement:
• Monitor supplier quality performance and manage supplier KPIs.
• Conduct regular supplier audits to verify adherence to ISO 9001, IATF 16949, VDA 6.3, and VDA 6.5 standards.
• Follow up on audit findings and lead continuous improvement projects with suppliers.
5. Business Travel to Address Supplier Quality Issues:
• Travel to supplier sites to perform on-site investigations, process audits, and ensure execution of corrective actions for quality issues.
Job Requirements:
1. Educational Background (Not Limited to Materials):
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Automation, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science.
• Knowledge or experience with the following materials/components is a plus:
‣ Plastic parts (injection molding, surface finishing)
‣ Metal parts (machining, forging, stamping, die casting)
‣ Electronic components
‣ Optical components (lenses, LCMs)
‣ Mechanical assemblies and structural parts
2. Work Experience:
• Minimum 2 years of experience in supplier quality, manufacturing engineering, or QA/QC roles
• Experience working on part qualification, process validation, or NPI (New Product Introduction) is preferred
• Ability to analyze and resolve material/process-related issues efficiently
3. Quality System & Audit Experience:
• Familiar with ISO 9001 and experience with IATF 16949, VDA 6.3, VDA 6.5 audits
• Capable of planning, conducting, and following up on supplier audits and assessments
4. Problem Solving & Quality Tools:
• Proficient in 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone , FMEA, etc.
• Knowledge of Turtle Diagram or other process control tools is a plus.
5. Language Skills:
• TOEIC 600 or above
• Ability to read and write basic technical English documentation
Plus Points:
• Experience in NPI, pre-production validation, or pilot run support
• Hands-on experience with supplier development and process audits
• Strong communication skills and the ability to influence suppliers to drive quality improvements
