About the Role & Team
We are building the next generation of automated customer support: a highly intelligent, end-to-end Virtual Agent (VA) tailored for after-sales services. Our goal is to revolutionize the customer journey by fully resolving complex customer inquiries—ranging from order tracking and open invoice management to automated return processing and complaints—without requiring human agent intervention.
As a Virtual Agent Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and scaling this AI-powered ecosystem. You‘ll work with real-time integrations across e-commerce databases, microservices, OCR tools (Google Vision), and modern AI capabilities (e.g., GPT/LLMs). Beyond pure development, you’ll help drive architectural modeling, cloud infrastructure automation, and seamless CI/CD pipelines.

Key Responsibilities
1. Feature Development & AI Engineering
• Design and develop core Virtual Agent capabilities, backend microservices, and workflows using Python and TypeScript.
• Integrate AI models (e.g., GPT) and OCR pipelines (Google Vision) to automate complex decision-making, document processing, and credit calculations.
• Build internal frontends (e.g., Svelte/Vue) for business stakeholders and administrative tools.
• Develop dynamic pipelines to facilitate real-time data exchange with partner teams and third-party platforms (e.g., Amazon Connect).
2. Cloud Architecture, Infrastructure & DevOps
• Support architectural modeling and system design for distributed microservices.
• Maintain and automate AWS cloud infrastructure (EC2, ALB, routing) using Terraform (IaC) and Docker.
• Manage CI/CD automation via GitHub Actions and collaborate closely with central developer communities (e.g., Otto Base modules).
3. Operations, Security & Compliance
• Participate in a rotating role for system operations, serving as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) and maintaining proactive system monitoring.
• Drive compliance and data privacy initiatives (GDPR) within the Virtual Agent domain.
• Act as a Co-Security Champion to maintain robust security standards across our applications and data flows.
What You Bring to the Team
Must-Have Qualifications:
• Programming Languages: Proficiency in Python (for backend services & AI processing) and modern TypeScript.
• Cloud & Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with AWS (EC2, ALB, routing), Docker, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
• Databases: Solid understanding of relational (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases.
• DevOps & Automation: Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions) and shell scripting (Bash/Shell).
• Version Control: Expertise in Git / GitHub workflows.
• Problem-Solving Mindset: Eager to own features end-to-end—from initial dynamic intent recognition to database queries and frontend delivery.
Nice-to-Have / Optional Qualifications:
• Frontend Frameworks: Knowledge of Svelte or Vue.js for building internal stakeholder tools.
• AI & Data Engineering: Experience with LLM integrations (OpenAI/GPT), conversational AI tools, chat analytics, or OCR technologies.
• Customer Contact Systems: Familiarity with contact center integrations (e.g., Amazon Connect, live chat systems).
